How to make delicious Caribbean Sea Moss gel

Hello and welcome!

The first step into making delicious sea moss gel is making sure you have purchased genuine ocean sea moss. Green Madame's Shop makes having the highest quality wild crafted sea moss a priority. Both our Irish and Caribbean Sea Moss are sustainably hand harvested from the open ocean waters. Unfortunately, there are many sellers providing consumers with pool grown, mineral deficient dehydrated sea moss and sea moss gels.Β

Initial prep time: 15 min
Wait period: 8-12 hrs
Final prep time: 6 min
1 oz sea moss will render 16 oz of gel
Ingredients:
  • 1 oz. Raw sun dried sea moss
  • 1 Lemon
  • 2 Limes
  • Alkaline water
  • Filtered water
When preparing your sea moss gel, it isΒ recommended to use fresh organic ingredients to maintain the quality and nutrients of your final product. Use filtered water to clean and rinse your sun dried sea moss and re-hydrate with spring or alkaline when blending. You can infuse your gel by adding fruit such as mango, apple, figs, dates, passion fruit or spices like cinnamon, turmeric, ginger etc. into the blender with the sea moss in the final step. Use a glass jar when stored.Β
  1. Fill up a glass or stainless steel bowl with enough water to cover up your moss. Wash it by running your fingers through and decompressing it for about 60 sec. Dump that water out, refill and repeat this cleaning process 3-4 times. This will also allow you to rid any ocean debris.
  2. Fill your bowl with water, covering it up and let it sit for 15 minutes, then rinse one last time before rehydrating.Β
  3. Β Cut 1 lemon and 2 key limes, deseed them and put to the side. Refill your bowl with enough alkaline water having in mind that your sea moss will re hydrate and double it's size.Β
  4. Squeeze the lemon and lime juice into the bowl along with the rinds of 1/2 a lemon and 1 lime.Β Let it sit in your kitchen or dining table uncovered for 8-12 hrs.
*Optional: You can use a mesh cloth if you’d like to put some kind of cover over it.Β

  5. Once re-hydrated, rinse your moss one more time and put it in the blender. Add about 1 cup of alkaline water, enough to cover it all. Blend until smooth, preferably on medium setting to avoid heating up your moss. Add more water for a thinner consistency or less to have a thicker gel.
  6. Pour it into your glass jar and leave it uncovered in the fridge for half a day. Once ready, lid the jar, but preferably use a cheese cloth or something similar to cover it up while still allowing enough air to flow.Β
**You can enjoy your 2 tbs of sea moss for the day before letting it settle in the fridge. Happy mossing! πŸ₯°
